This is a charitable organisation supported by the churches of Littlehampton, West Sussex, which aims to assist single homeless people in the Arun area to secure accommodation. You might think that homelessness is confined to the big towns and cities, but this is not so. The problem is just as prevalent even in this charming sea-side town on the south coast of England. HOMElink guarantees the deposit required by landlords and assists the clients to budget and save for their own deposit.
The project is headed by Abi, the Project Manager and assisted by Teresa, an Outreach Support Worker, together with a Board of Trustees and a group of Volunteers. What do Volunteers do? Lots of different things! Interviewing potential clients, visiting clients in their homes and giving them guidance, providing office skills, organising money raising events, providing goods for sales of work (cakes, preserves, bric-a-brac etc), manning stalls, street collecting, collecting provisions for clients and providing a Welcome box of goodies when they move in to their new homes, at Christmas or at other times when needed. New Volunteers are always welcome.
